Brief Description: The Comprehensive Assessment of Articulation and Intelligibility (CAAI), a research-based, data-driven approach to accent management, and its use in screening, assessment, goal setting, and progress monitoring are described in this course. The need for cultural responsiveness, bias awareness and adherence to principles of anti-racist communication when providing these services is also discussed. Brief Description: Use of the Comprehensive Assessment of Articulation and Intelligibility (CAAI) to conduct culturally-responsive, systematic and comprehensive assessment of foreign-accented speech is addressed in this course. Discussion includes procedures for analyzing 22 areas of speech and language, computing and interpreting scores, and using the results to formulate meaningful goals, plan treatment and evaluate outcomes.This is Part 2 of a two-part series.
